What you’ll need:
- Xhorse Key Tool MIDI
- At least one blank key
- One programmed key
- Your 2010 Land Rover Freelander 2
Step 1: Connect the Key Tool MIDI via OBD
Start by plugging your Key Tool MIDI into the vehicle’s OBD port.
Then navigate through the follow path on the device:
Immo Programming >> Europe >> Land Rover >> Freelander2 >> Smart Keys Programming >> -2012 >> Start Programming >> New Smart Keys Added
Step 2: Insert a Programmed Key
You must have at least one programmed key to begin.
1. Click Start Programming to begin
2. Click New Smart Key Added
3. Click OK to continue and insert the working key into the key slot
You’ll be prompted:
“Whether the inserted key is sucked in and not pushed out?”
If Yes, click OK.
If No, click Cancel and try reinserting.
Step 3: Cycle Ignition
Turn ON ignition switch, and press OK to continue.
Then turn OFF the ignition, and press OK to continue.
Remove the key from the slot, and press OK to continue.
Insert the smart key again.
You’ll then be prompted:
“Whether to program next one”
Click Yes
Then remove the key from the card slot and click OK to continue.
Step 4: Add a New Smart Key
Now it’s time to program your new key.
1. Insert the new smart key into the card slot.
2. If the key is ejected, insert it again until it’s fully drawn in.
3. Listen for the steering lock sound – that’s a good sign the key is being recognised.
You’ll be asked:
“Whether the smart card has been fully drawn into the card slot?”
If yes, click OK.
If no, reinsert until you hear a click and the tool recognises it.
Step 5: Program Another Key? (Optional)
The tool will ask if you want to program another key.
Click Yes to repeat the process for another blank key.
Click No to finish.
Final Steps
Turn ON the ignition one more time – Click OK.
You should then see a confirmation message:
“Operation Completed!”
